I write fiction, screenplays, and creative nonfiction. I live in Las Vegas and teach literature, creative writing, and composition at the College of Southern Nevada. I’ve also worked at LSU (where I earned my Ph.D), the University of Alabama, the University of Louisiana-Monroe, and Baton Rouge Community College. I live with my wife, Dr. Kalene Westmoreland; my youngest daughter, Maya; my son, Brendan; and our three pets–Nilla the dog, and our cats Cookie and Tora. My daughter Shauna (along with her husband, John; my granddaughter, Nova Rae; and their two dogs and one cat) live in Arkansas, but I see them whenever I can. Look on the “C.V.” page of this website for links to my work.
My novel, Comanche, will be published in August 2020 by Imbrifex Books. Look for it in bookstores and at online retailers.
My somewhat-experimental collection of linked stories, The Subtle Dance of Impulse and Light, was published by Ink Brush Press. It is available online through Amazon and Barnes and Noble.
My screenplay Candy’s First Kiss has won several awards at screenwriting competitions.
