I write fiction, screenplays, and occasional (and possibly bad) poetry. I live in Las Vegas and teach literature, creative writing, and composition at the College of Southern Nevada. I’ve also worked at LSU (where I earned my Ph.D), the University of Alabama, the University of Louisiana-Monroe, and Baton Rouge Community College. I live with my wife, Dr. Kalene Westmoreland; my youngest daughter, Maya; and our beautiful and silly cat Cookie McSnowshoe. My kids Shauna (along with her husband, John, and their two dogs and one cat) and Brendan live in Arkansas, but I see them whenever I can. My work has been published in journals such as Folio, Big Muddy: A Journal of the Mississippi River Valley, The Broadkill Review, First Class, Blue Lake Review, The Wisconsin Review, The Mochila Review, Separate Worlds, Allegory, The Evansville Review, Red Rock Review, and Metal Scratches. I am currently hunting that most elusive prey, the literary agent.
My somewhat-experimental collection of linked stories, The Subtle Dance of Impulse and Light, was recently published by Ink Brush Press.
My screenplay Candy’s First Kiss has won several awards at screenwriting competitions.
